Alp culture

The Norwegian alp culture was added to the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in 2024. Our valley, Sjodalen, has a particularly rich alp history with numerous summer farms and large farm buildings, adapted for summer and - earlier - winter farming. On this walk, we visit several of the oldest summer farms and share insights into the history and alp culture through small stories. It's a varied stroll both on and off the path, with many stops along the way, in a quiet part of the valley where we know every stone and tree (by name!).
